New From Carine MacKenzie: The Promise: How God Told the World about Jesus

The Promise by Carine MackenzieAt the beginning of time a promise was made by God. He promised to save from sin by sending his Son, the Saviour. One after the other people heard the message and told the world about God’s plan to send a Saviour, God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The promise that was made in the Garden of Eden came true in the Garden tomb, when the Saviour who was sacrificed, crushed death and came back to life.

All through history God had told the world that this would happen – and it did!

The promise was kept.

Featured Review: The Easter Story – Reviewed by Danika Cooley

The-Easter-Story
The Bible does a wonderful job of telling the Resurrection / Easter story. It is, after all, God’s Word. The Bible is all about Jesus. It’s nice, though, to have an illustrated, concise version of the Resurrection story to read to kids. You can’t beat Carine Mackenzie’s prose and faithfulness to the Word.

Here’s what I love about The Easter Story: The Bible Version by Carine Mackenzie (CF4K, 2015):

  • It’s in chronological order. The gospel accounts of Jesus’ last days on earth, trials, crucifixion, resurrection, appearances to believers, and ascension all highlight different aspects of his story. Here they’re all told together. (I thought the narrative about the women finding the tomb required a little interpretation as the biblical accounts tell it a little differently, but I appreciate the way the story Mrs. Mackenzie wove them together.)
  • It’s faithful to the biblical account.
  • There are 21 numbered 2-page spreads, so if you’d like, you can read a small part of the story each day leading up to Easter.
  • It starts with an explanation of God’s plan for salvation and ends with the assurance of eternal life if we trust in Jesus.
  • I really like Carine Mackenzie’s storytelling.
  • Natascia Ugliano’s whimsical pastels are just lovely. (There are no pictures of Jesus, for those who consider that a violation of the second commandment.)

My 1st Book About the Bible by Carine Mackenzie

My 1st Book About the Bible by Carine Mackenzie

Finding age appropriate resources to introduce key biblical and theological concepts to your little ones can be quite challenging. We understand how important it is to help children begin developing a solid worldview at a young age and that’s precisely why Christian Focus 4 Kids continues to grow the My First Book series.

The My First Book series is a catechism-like resource designed to help you teach your children about God, the Bible, and the Church. Below is a sample reading from My 1st Book About the Bible:

2. The Word of God lasts forever

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Mark 13:31

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8

The clothes you have today will one day wear out. Your toys will break and be thrown away. The flowers in the garden wither and die. God tells us that even the world we live in, will be burned up and come to an end. But God’s Word will never be destroyed. It will last forever.

We’re excited to introduce Carine Mackenzie’s latest contribution to this series titled My 1st Book About the Bible. Over the course of twenty-five brief lessons, this book explores the following questions:

  • What is the Word of God?
  • What does the Word of God do?
  • What is the Word of God like?

Measuring approximately 4″ by 6″ the books in the My 1st Book series are just the right size for little hands. If you have little ones ages 4-6, we recommend that you read these books along with your children. If your children are ages 6-11, they will be able to read these books on their own. In either case, we pray that the My 1st Book series becomes a starting point for many great discussions in your home.

New Release – Following God by Carine Mackenzie

If you were standing underneath a plum tree you wouldn’t expect to see bananas hanging there. If you reached up into the leaves of an apple tree you wouldn’t pull down a coconut on top of your head. That just wouldn’t happen. You know what sort of tree it is by its fruit and the Bible says that you know if someone is a Christian or not by the fruit of their lives. What sort of fruit is that?… well there is one fruit that is produced in a Christian and that is the Fruit of the Spirit.

In Following God, Carine Mackenzie uses Bible characters to illustrate how we can see the fruit of the Spirit in a person’s life. As children read the stories and work through the quizes, they will get better acquainted with the different parts of this fruit, including love, joy, peace, long-suffering, and much more. Following God is a great resource to share with you children and grandchildren ages 8-12.

Following God is available at your local Christian book store. If you don’t have a Christian bookstore near you, you can purchase it from an online retailer, including those listed below:

Christian Focus on the Road – Wesley Owen bookshop – Coleraine, Northern Ireland

Carine Mackenzie recently paid a visit to the Wesley Owen bookshop in Coleraine, Northern Ireland to sign books and read stories from her 150th book, 365 Great Bible Stories: The good news of Jesus Christ from Genesis to Revelation (CF4K, 2011). Here are a few of the photos from the event:

All of the photos from the event are available on the Christian Focus Publications Facebook page:  LINK.

365 Great Bible Stories is Carine MacKenzie’s 150th Book. With one story a day this book will give you enough Bible stories to last all year. There is also an opportunity to track a theme such as Salvation; The Holy Spirit; God’s Word and by looking out for the key picture as you flick through the book. Be sure to remember that this book is not about how fast or slow you read, or how many days you spend going through it. This book is about discovering the good news about Jesus Christ from Genesis to Revelation. You can also make a special friend, Jesus Christ, the true Saviour. He is with his people always no matter what time of day or what month of the year it is. God’s word is true always. Read it and learn from it and follow it all the days of your life.

Praise for 365 Great Bible Stories:

365 Great Bible Stories: The Good News of Jesus from Genesis to Revelation by Carine Mackenzie is a fantastic book, not just for young children, but for people of all ages. I happily welcome this addition to my library and I look forward to reading it to my daughter and any other children the Lord may bless us with. I trust that this book will entertain young children as it is read aloud, and also inform children as they read it for themselves. This is no mere storybook, there are important truths strewn throughout; this is truly a premier discipleship resource full of sound theology and practical wisdom.”
~Timothy Harris – pursuingthefruit.blogspot.com

“While there is no replacement for the living and active Word of God, it is helpful to have resources to help our children see the redemptive storyline of the Bible. 365 Great Bible Stories is another helpful resource to that end. It can be used by itself or along with a Bible to help bring greater clarity to the Truth in God’s Word and the message of salvation.”
